SCHEDULE

Salisbury Book Crafts meets for three terms per academic year in the autumn, winter and spring.  Each term consists of 5 sessions which meets on a Saturday from 10 - 4 with an hour’s break for lunch. The location is the HARNHAM SCOUT HUT (next to the Church Hall), Lower Street, just off the Harnham Road on the southern side of Salisbury.

Dates are normally every other Saturday but scheduling depends on availability of the Scout Hut.

The 2012 term dates are:

January 28th

February 4th and 18th

March 3rd and 17th

March 31st

April 14th and 29th (a Sunday)

May 12th and 26th

June 16th

July 7th

August 18th

October 14th (a Sunday) and 27th

November 10th and 24th

December 8th

The course runs as an open studio and students are free to come to whichever session suits them, so starting mid-term is not a problem if there is space. The cost is £25.00 per session.  Attendance at 3 or more sessions per term is £85.00 for the entire term, payable at the beginning of the term. This includes a one-off payment of £5.00 for materials.

Once or twice a year a trip is organised to visit an institution of interest.

In 2010 the visit was to the The Wiltshire Records Office in Chippenham in January and in April we travelled to London to see the Bookbinding Exhibition at the Flow Gallery and also the Conservation Department at the British Library.

In 2011 we visited the conservation department of the Bodleian Library and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

In 2012 we will visit the Winchester College libraries.
